A Special Tag In A Bag Birthday

"Best friends forever, Never apart,
Maybe in distance, But never at Heart"

Well this took on a life of it's own! I made this "tag in a bag" for my dear friend, Roxanne, back home in Ontario who is celebrating a special birthday. We have been friends since high school (mid '70's).
I had made a similar bag, which you can see HERE. So many layers and die cuts! All the dies were cut out using white card stock and tinted with Distress Inks Victorian Velvet with some Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs. The flowers are all from my stash. Added a dab or two of Distress Stickles Tattered Rose and Rock Candy.
Cheesecloth, crepe paper or party streamer, and tulle tucked in here and there.

Here is a full view of it. Used some natural colour raffia and some tulle.

The top of the bag. Used Tim Holt Distressed Doily die cut. My fav!

Small pink safety pin hot glued to the butterfly for the body.

Seam binding tinted with Distress Ink Victorian Velvet.

The verse I found on Pinterest. It was perfect! I printed the verse off on vellum, then cut it out with a heart die cut.

The front of the tag. Here are a couple of photos of Roxanne and I "back in the day!" Also, our yearbook photos. Tucked in some butterfly Tissue Tape here and there.

The back of the tag. The stamped sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps. Background paper is from Prima.

The back of the bag.

Thanks for stopping by, and leaving a word or two! Muchly appreciated! On our last week of vacation. Having a nice relaxing couple of weeks. Weather has been great too! Hope you have a great week!

Dragonflies & Fairies

"May you touch Dragonflies and Stars,
dance with Fairies and talk to the Moon"

Love the new Tim Holtz/Sizzix Layered Dragonfly die with matching embossing folder! Had lots of fun making this big tag! I used a Rangers manilla tag, 5 1/8" x 10 1/2". Covered one side with various Distress Inks, spritzed with water and a dash here and there of Glimmer Mists.
The trellis on the left was made with Sizzix Frameworks Trellis die cut and scrap purple patterned paper. Added some tissue tape on the sides and bottom areas. Stamped some areas with background stamps and stencils.
Added some wooden stars that were glittered with Distress Stickles. Corner die is from Cheery Lynn.
The cute little fairy swinging on the moon is a stamp that I paper pieced and coloured with chalks. Also added some vellum on her wings. She is from a stamp set by Clear Arts Stamps. The stamp set is a fairy theme. Picked it up from The Cutting Garden yard sale last year. The quote I found on Pinterest and was perfect for this! Made if from a label machine Mike bought.
The flower is from Michaels $1.50 bin. Tinted some cheesecloth with Distress Ink Scattered Straw. Seam binding bow tinted with Distress Inks and I added some tulle.
The dragonfly took a while to get it the way I wanted it. Three layers of wings! The top wings are cut from vellum and I used Pebbles Metallic Chalks to colour; spread colour on with my fingers! The body is layered with Distress Stickles Tarnished Brass and Vintage Photo. For the antennae I used very thin black wire.

For you local crafters, I bought the dragonfly die cut/embossing folder combo set from Kim at The Cutting Garden. There is also a bee set and butterfly set! May have to save my pennies for those sets!

Just had our first week of vacation and going into our second. No plans, just playing it day by day! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend and hope you get inky!
