I'm Puzzled!?

"Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!"
- Lewis Carroll

My last project as Guest Designer at Stampotique! I had a blast! This one was lots of fun to make, and out of all 4 projects this one is my favourite.

Happy Birthday Prom Queen

My 3rd project as April Guest Designer over at Stampotique. This week's challenge is, Birthday. Complete details are on the challenge blog.
Don't you just love her! Her name is "Prom Queen" and she is designed by Daniel Torrente, and is available at Stampotique. In my haste to get a photo of it and give it to a co-worker, I forgot to take a photo of the inside and back.
The sentiment inside is, "Well, la de frickin' dah!" which is also a Stampotique stamp.
At The Chronicle Herald, where I work, letters to the editor are called "Voice of the People", and I thought the torn headline for the letters worked perfect on this card.

The flower is hand torn circles; inked on the edges with DI Vintage Photo; Distress Rock Candy Crackle added for crunch.

Stuff I Used:
- Stampotique stamps: Prom Queen, (paper pieced; face is chalked) "Well, la de frickin' dah!"; the star is called "Jo's Star" and is designed by Jo Capper-Sandon.
- Paper: K&Company, Susan Winget designer, Nature 12x12 paper pad set
- Lace and tulle from Dollar Store
- Dew Drops

Life Without Music...

"Life without music would b flat"

I know, a bit on the cheesy side! Manly cards are a bit tricky. I made this birthday card for a co-worker's son. He loves music and he plays guitar. The record is from a streamer set I found at Party's R Us. It was in the '50's theme section. There's about 6 records hanging from a couple of plastic streamers. I thought they would be perfect for cards.

The inside. Left it blank for Donna to write her own sentiment.

The back

Stuff I Used:
- Stampotique stamp is "Oliver". I paper pieced him on TH papers; shirt is Bingo TH paper
- Stamps: Rock Star, guitar pick, volume control knob are from the Inkadinkado Inchies Music set
- Stamps: Star, You Rock, guitar are from the Inkadinkado Rock Star set
- Papers are from Tim Holtz
- Binding Edge punch
- Brads, mini paper clips, filmstrip ribbon, fragments, drywall tape, gear
- Words printed from computer

Tomorrow is Friday! I hear we're getting some kind of storm; rain, snow?! Yikes!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend with friends and family!

Liebster Award

I have been nominated for the Liebster Award!

A very nice surprise from a fellow Canadian crafter, Marilyn! Drop by her crafty blog for inspiration, Crafts and Beyond. Love to visit and see what she is up to!

What is the Liebster Award?
This award was designed to promote blogs which have less than 200 followers. Once the award is accepted, the idea is to pay it forward to five other blogs you enjoy, encouraging others to visit, leave comments, and hopefully follow.

To accept the award:
Thank the person who gave it to you and link back to their blog. Post the award on your blog. Give the award to five other bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Write a comment on their blog letting them know they have been nominated.

My five blogs of inspiration, in no particular order:

1. LisaCrafting Cottage. The queen of flowers, butterflies and mini albums! Love her creations and her style! She makes simple so elegant! She also makes a mean stick pin! I know Lisa and we do crops together.

2. MelanieSunflower Mel's Crafting Corner. Heart as big as a house! Works at the local paper craft store and is a card making machine! Love her designs and the love she puts into them. Would do anything for you. I also hang out with Mel at crops.

3. ValerieValerie Wilson. When I was getting started, I took some classes in card making from Val. A great inspiration! She was the one who suggested I start a blog. A wonder woman of techniques! She makes a fabulous shoe!

4. TracyScrappy Chick Designs. The queen of scrapbook layouts! Wow! Amazing pages! I have met Tracy a couple of times, briefly. She comes from Cape Breton. I can't measure worth a bean, so I compensate by ripping and tearing! Tracy does magic with her pages!

5. JulieMutch to Stamp. Julie and I are on a DT together for Stampsmith Rubber stamps, and also in a crafty group. Love her style and creations. From altered frames and boxes to beautiful vintage cards!

Well, there you have it! Can you guess? I have selected all local Nova Scotian crafty ladies! I have met them all too! Stop by their blogs for inspiration!

I'm Only Happy When It Rains

"I'm Only Happy When It Rains"

Not really! It was actually sleeting here yesterday! Ughh! This is my second week as Guest Designer over at Stampotique. The challenge is "April Showers".
Had fun with this little 5x7 canvas!

Stuff I Used:
- Stamp is called "Smushasha"; stamped on coloured paper; fussy cut
- Dylusions Ink Sprays for background
- Crafters Workshop Mini Rain stencil
- Cheesecloth inked to look like seaweed
- Paper doily used under the "seaweed"
- Bubble wrap on top of the rub-on
- Dollar Store umbrella
- Quote is a song title from the band Garbage
- Beach glass and shells from the shores of Nova Scotia! I picked them myself!

Hope you join in this week for the Stampotique Challenge: April Showers. Complete details are over on the challenge blog.

This Sunday my local paper craft store The Cutting Garden is having a yard sale. Pre-registered local paper crafters are bringing in scrapbooking and paper craft supplies that we don't use anymore. I have a couple of boxes to take over. I find that my style has changed over the years.
Money you make turns into a Cutting Garden gift card and items not sold will go to the HomeBridge Youth Society.

It's hump day! Almost there! Have a wonderful end of the week! Thanks for stopping by!

My First Art Journal Page

My first page in my new art journal! A fun time, once I got going! My idea for this journal is to use stamps I tend to forget I have, and some of my favourite quotes and images in either stamps, rub-ons, or just torn out of magazines or off the web. Background is all Dylusions Ink Sprays. Used various background stamps, rub-ons, bubble wrap, tissue tape and filmstrip ribbon.

This lovely stamp is called Mela and is designed by Daniel Torrente and is from Stampotique. I paper pieced her. The sentiment stamp is Tim Holtz stamped on book script paper with some cheesecloth stuck behind. The "hippie chick" stamp is from the Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu set.

The green vine is a stencil by Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions "Luscious Leaves". Used modelling paste mixed with green acrylic paint; outlined in black ; splattered some white paint on top. The star stamp is from the Autumn Leaves "Scribbles Hearts and Stars" set and then outlined with a white gel pen. The double circle you see here is the plastic piece you would normally through away from a tape dispenser! I know! How clever is that! Of course I saw it on Pinterest!

The butterfly stamp is from Tim Holtz "Fairytale Frenzy" set. The heart, I cut out of patterned paper and inked with DI Black Soot. The white circles are made from Picket Fence Stain dabber.

The "Confidence is Sexy" stamp is from the Inkadinkado "Thoughts For The Day" clear stamp set. The doily stamp is from My Mind's Eye "Cutie Pie, Lavender The Sweetest Thing" set.

This is the art journal I am using. Will decorate the cover eventually.

The inside: Has a pocket on the left for storing stencils, etc. The cover on the right is also crying out to be painted, inked and stamped! Kim at The Cutting Garden has a few of these art journals in stock.
