The Garden Of Crafty Delights

Love love love canvas art! I'm so hooked! I made this 8x10 canvas at the Free Mixed Media Day, which was held at The Cutting Garden, a paper craft store in Halifax. Kim, the owner, wanted to decorate the bare walls in the store. She supplied the canvas, inks, paints, "bits & bobs", and of course we could bring whatever we wanted. We had 6 hours to complete our masterpieces!

Pleased how this turned out! The young lady with the scissors is called, "The Crafter", and is designed by Daniel Torrente and is available from Stampotique.

The crooked house is part of a stamp set called, "Right Up Your Street" by Dyan Reaveley. The flowers on the left is a part of a stamp set called "How Does Your Garden Grow?", also by Dyan Reaveley.

The big flower in the middle is a stamp, which I borrowed from Debbie (thanks Deb!), from the set called, "Doodle Bloom" by  Tia Bennett Autumn Leaves.

The big yellow "sun" in the corner is a stencil from Crafters Workshop called Grandma's Doily. I mucked up some modelling paste with yellow acrylic paint and slathered it on! Love that stuff!

Used the "Mini Rain" stencil from Balzer Designs/Crafters Workshop at the top. Butterfly was stamped and coloured and a safety pin added for the body. The path to the house is drywall tape. Used various colours of Dylusions Sprays for the background.

The weekend is just around the corner! Hopefully no more snow! Have a crafty weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Fairies In Her Pockets

I certainly do love Julie Nutting's Doll stamps! Great for paper piecing and canvas art, which I haven't tried...yet!
All the papers used is Graphic 45 Springtime 12x12 paper pad set.

I made this tag this past Saturday at an all day crop (9am to midnight), at my local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden. The next day, when I looked at this tag, I thought why not cut out some fairies from the paper set and stick them in her pockets. I had to stamp the pockets again and glue the fairies to them; and stick them down with foam stickers to make them 3D.
Used TH Tattered Doily tucked behind her. Chalked her face, legs and arms, although it doesn't look like it in the photos.

The flower is Die-namics Upsey Daisies, cut out twice. The middle flower is cut from the paper. Crusted hatpin is Prima, and Kim as them at The Cutting Garden.

The back of the tag. I cut out bunny and the mouse and popped them up with foam. Ribbon is Hug Snug Seam Binding inked with TH Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

Had a wonderful time at the crop! Always do! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Cowboy Birthday Card

This was fun. My father-in-law, Rod turned 90 this past November. He reads novels constantly and one author he likes is Zane Grey, who writes westerns.
I found this cowboy image on Pinterest. I put it through Pixlr, a web photo editing program (FREE!) and made it vintage looking and added the text.
Lot of textures going on here! Everything from cardboard sprayed with Glimmer Mists, cardboard covered in beeswax, drywall tape, TH Kraft Glassine paper, jute, staples, button, metal sheet embossed and then coloured with alcohol ink, and a safety pin! Whew! Good to keep those scraps because they can be useful in the future!

The inside. The paper used is from BoBunny Etc. 6x6 paper pad set.

Here is the birthday boy with his cake!

I hope that if I live to be 90, I'm still reading, doing crosswords, on the computer and still physically able to get about on my own, like Rod!

Well, Monday's coming up. Going to a concert tonight. Serena Ryder. Looking forward to a night of great music!

Have a fabulous week!

Spring Colours and Flowers

It snowed overnight. We've been having such a good week. Very nice temps and the sunshine was really nice too. But never mind, let's think of spring! The first of the month, and a new challenge: The Stampsmith Challenge: TSC40 Spring Flowers and Colours
Valerie has something else up her sleeve, and you could win some rubber! Details are over at The Stampsmith Challenge Blog.
For the month of March, we are asked to create something using at least one Stampsmith stamp with the colours of spring and flowers.
This lovely Stampsmith bride-to-be stamp is from the "Portrait of a Lady" sheet. All paper used is from My Mind's Eye In Bloom 6x6 paper pad. Used some pink elastic ribbon and cream zipper ribbon at the bottom.
Tinted her with chalks and added some Distressed Stickles here and there. Little bit of pink tulle, and inked up some of my fav ribbon, Hug Snug Seam Binding in colours to match.

Die cuts and punches used:
1. Martha Stewart 3-in-one Butterfly punch
2. Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch
3. Martha Stewart Hydrangea 3-in-one punch
