30 Years!? Holy Smokes!

"Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be"
~ Robert Browning
Wow! Where did the time go?! This is the card I made for Mike. Used my fav papers, Graphic45 Ladies Diary set.
We had our anniversary dinner this past weekend. As some of you may know, we are going to London England in August for 2 weeks.
Mike turned 60 this year and today is our 30th. To celebrate both big events, we thought we would do a biggie trip. We are not big travellers so this is really special.

Life Is Good Canvas

Good morning everyone! This is a 9x12 canvas I made for my friend and co-worker, Louise for her birthday. We normally don't give gifts or even cards, but this was a big "0" birthday. Lots of stuff on this one! It took a few tries to get the background the way I wanted it, but then after that, it was a lot of fun!
Louise is also a scrapbooker and card maker. We started on this crafty journey together, however, she has taken the last year off, and concentrated on her "yard art" and "up cycling". I tried to incorporate her love of flowers, and her birdhouses which she made herself from odds and ends and are very unique! It also represents her love of family. So, "Life Is Good"!
This large flower is actually a stamp that I stamped 3 times on patterned paper, and stacked with foam. The small centre flower and the 3 ball looking flowers are stamps from the same set.
The perch is a wine cork cut in half. Thanks Lisa for the bag of corks! Tim Holtz keyhole, some rub ons and cheesecloth, of course!
Here's a first for me. Couldn't find a birdhouse template that I liked, so decided to try and make my own. Several tries later, I was pleased with this one. Roof and pole is corrugated cardboard, swiped with white paint. Those cute birdies are a Memory Box die set.
Flower is from the Crafters Workshop Mini 4 Flowers set, designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. Used some modelling paste tinted with paint. The centre is a stamp from that same flower set.
"Life Is Good" are from 2 different alpha stamp sets, stamped onto a book page.
Used some Prima flowers (the teal ones), and TH flower dies for the others. Here you can see a garden fairy!
Side view. I used pieces of TH Tissue Tape all around the edges.
The back. I attached a white glassine mini bag with a sentiment tag inside.

Happy Birthday Louise!

Fore Your Birthday

"Golf is a good walk spoiled"
~ Mark Twain

How true! We have some breathtaking courses here in Nova Scotia, and I enjoy the walk, since I'm not a great golfer. I may not hit the ball far, but when I do, it goes straight and not in the woods...most of the time!
This card was made for our friend Bill's birthday. Bill and his wife Nancy, Mike and I took up golf about 12 years ago, which is a bit late. Wish I would've taken it up when I was a lot younger! This would make a great Father's Day card too.
The stamp is called "Vintage Golfer" and is from Stampablilities. Paper used is from the KaiserCraft "Sears & Son" Collection paper set.
The inside. Used the same sentiment stamps here as I did on Mike's birthday card. "You're not old, You're Vintage" is 7gypsies, and the birthday stamp is from the "Twenty Something" set from Stampendous. The golf martini is from Impression Obsession.
The back. The playing card is cut from the same paper set, "Sears & Son Collection by KaiserCraft. The four of took up Bridge many years ago too!

It has been a very long day. We had our yard sale and after it raining for days, luck was on our side and it was sunny all day; not a cloud in the sky!
Totally exhausted, actually past the tired stage. We took the leftover stuff to The Salvation Army.

Hope it's sunny where you are! Have a fabulous Father's Day tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!

Who's Your (Steampunk) Daddy?

Got to play with my "new to me" Tim Holtz stamps! Just love this guy! This is for my 90 years young father-in-law, Rod for Father's Day. Lots of bits and bobs on this one!

This dapper guy is paper pieced using TH Kraft Glassine paper. Flesh is coloured with chalks.

The brown piece with the gear is a bread tie covered in TH Glassine paper that I stamped with a background word stamp, then glued on to bread tie and trimmed.
Ok. A little story about this foam backed puzzle piece. I get a ride to work, but most of the time I take the bus home. For 5 days straight, when I got of the bus, I would find a foam backed puzzle piece! Since I started mixed media, I look at things with a different eye! Anyway, I thought this piece worked perfectly on this card!
Cheese cloth inked with some DI Vintage Photo and attached with the Tiny Attacher.
Small kraft tag stamped with a background word stamp and added a gear. The embossing folder is the Cuttlebug 5x7 Clockworks.
The inside. Papers used are from the Creative Imaginations Gallivant 12x12 set. Love this paper! I bought it at my local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden.
Here are the other stamps in the set: Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz - Time Travelers. I bought mine at The Cutting Garden. Fabulous manly set of stamps!

We are getting a licking from tropical storm Andrea, which means pouring rain all day long! It hasn't stopped! Oh well. Good day for some crafty business!

Stay dry where ever you are! Happy weekend, and thanks again for stopping by and leaving a word or two! Muchly appreciated!

A Manly Card, But I Like It Too!

Two posts in two days! I'm on a roll! I have made a few manly cards lately, but have to post after the recipient receives it, so I will be posting more manly cards in the next few weeks.
This card was for Mike's birthday, which was yesterday, June 1st. He says his cards are getting heavier every year! So true! Since I don't have to mail his, I tend to go overboard with the embellies! This fella sort of reminded me of the Gatsby era.

Stuff I used:
- All papers (including the dapper golfer), is Graphic 45 "A Ladies Diary" 12x12 paper pad set.
- Golf ball brad, patterned brad
- TH pen nib
- Gears
- Cheese cloth
- Corrugated cardboard
- Page from book
- Dictionary meaning of "Golf"
- TH Tissue Tape
- Drywall tape
- Burlap
- Kraft paper for card base
- Sentiment rubber cling stamp "You're not old, you're Vintage" is Hampton Art/7 gypsies
- Lipstick stamp, "Kiss" by Rubber Stamped
- Birthday stamp is "Twenty Something" by Stampendous!

It's On The Bag

This month, The Stampsmith has a Guest Designer! Some of you may already know her and have visited her blog. She is so amazing! Her name is Paula, but you may know her as Ephemera! She will be with us for June, July and August. Very excited to have her on board! You will be amazed!
Paula has picked the theme for June. Using at least one Stampsmith stamp with one (or all!) of the following: "Bag, Book, Box"I chose a brown paper bag and started the background with pattern paper, Mod Podge and Gesso, crepe paper, then layered all the different die cuts.

Stuff I Used:
- Serena #2 Stampsmith stamp stamped on glossy cs with ColorBox Mudslide
- Brown paper lunch bag
- Everything (except image), was inked with Distress Ink Old Paper
- Gesso, Mod Podge for base
- Several die cuts from Cheery Lynn and Memory Box; layered
- Martha Stewart butterfly and hydrangea punches
- Hug Snug Seam Binding Ribbon inked with DI Old Paper
- Crepe paper or party streamer
- cheese cloth
- Skeleton leaves from The Cutting Garden
- Pre-made flowers I found in my drawer
- Tim Holtz Distressed Doily On the Edge die cut
- Tim Holtz "Wish" die cut on back of bag
- Natural colour raffia
- Tim Holtz Reinforcers around the holes for the raffia
- No bling to be found! Very hard to do for me!
