Thank You!

This card was made as a thank you card for Val, a crafty friend I met when I first started this journey into paper and ink.
I had bought this stamp set months ago and was eager to use it. I think it would be great on canvas too.

All the colouring on this card is done with Faber-Castell Gelatos. I also tried some doodling; the black circles with white gel pen centres. The flowers are a stamp from this set; stamped twice on book print paper then cut out. Added some pink tulle under the bling on the orange flower on her waist.

The ribbon is Hug Smug Seam Binding inked in DI colours to match the card. I stamped her on plain paper and then cut her out and glued her on book print paper.

I wish I could say I drew the birds and the branch, but it was already on the paper! I just added some colour.

The back. This sentiment is part of the stamp set.

This is the stamp set. I purchased it at my local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden.

This is the paper I used for the background of both the card and the tag. It's from the Basic Grey Serenade set. This particular 12x12 sheet is called "50 pence". I also purchased this at The Cutting Garden.

I have been feeling "pookie" as my mum used to say. Have that hateful cold/cough that's going around. It's on it's way out...I hope! Have a creative week everyone. Thanks for stopping by!

She Loved The Everyday

This is a 4x5 canvas on an easel I made for Melanie, an awesome and lovely person who I meet through our local paper craft store. It was for her birthday.

The side. I wrapped TH elastic lace all around the canvas.

My favourite set of stamps (right now), "How Does Your Garden Grow" by Dyan Reaveley/Dylusions. Great for canvas art. I paper pieced the bird and flowers. The stamps already come with text/numbers on them. Under the flower is drywall tape!

The top. I used a sewing bobbin and hot glued it on top of the canvas. Then added some Hug Snug Binding Ribbon, inked with matching DI colours I used on the canvas and tied it around the bobbin. On top of the bobbin is a button.

I even inked and stamped the easel!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know. Pretty risqué, eh? Card I made for Mike. The lovely lady is from Pinterest. I put her through Pixlr, a photo editing (FREE!) website and added the swirls and cracks in the background and the text. Tinted her checks and lips with chalk. Paper set used, My Minds Eye Traveler.

The real fun part of this card is this little thingy. It's called an Action Wobble. If you Google "Action Wobble", you will find all kinds, and where to purchase. I purchased mine from our local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden.

I printed her off twice; same size. Cut out the heart and her hands from one image and attached the Action Wobble to the back of the heart and carefully placed on top of the other image. Here's a photo of the card from the side:

When you "flick" the heart it wobbles! Too funny! I know some of the local crafters bought the Action Wobble to use on kids cards. Well, here's another use for them!

The inside (my fav stamp; Lips!):

And the back:

Here's the Christmas card I made for Mike. Same idea. You just have to find the right image or stamp.

Fun cards to make with this little gadget! It would make great kids cards too!

Have a very chocolate kind of day!

Hearts To You & A Love Story

Posting 2 Valentine cards today. I think that's a first! 2 cards in one post. I don't believe I've done that before.
I bought this set of Nesties awhile back. They are the Classic Hearts set. Love the colours in this paper set, Teresa Collins Vintage Finds 6x6 Designer Pad. Love the blue, carmel, gold and beige colours.
The mini butterflies are a MS punch, 3-in-1 Butterfly. I rubbed some DI Vintage Photo over the blue/white bakers twine to tone down the white. To make it "vintagey"
The sentiment is just something I thought of. After printing it off on white cs, I used a Martha Stewart edge punch (Deco Fan), and lined it up with the words, then cut to size. I glued it on top of a pennant label I had for extra layering. Saw on Pinterest! Where else!
The small flower, is made using 2 MS punches; 3-in-1 Hydrangea, and Hydrangea. The paper doily poking out from under the hearts is TH Tattered Doily. Corners are Cheery Lynn Deco Corner B set.

I'm hooked on gauze! Love the effect! I've used it on the last 2 cards and canvas art I did. Here's a closer look at the cardboard heart. I added some Delta acrylic paint, "Maple Sugar" to some modelling paste. Matched the papers perfectly! Topped off with some Distress Scattered Straw Stickles for crunch.

"A Love Story"
As you can see, the gauze makes another appearance! The border punch is MS, Lace Heart Edge Punch.
The doily is Cheery Lynn, French Pastry. The gorgeous paper is My Minds Eye, Market 6x6 Paper Pad set. The buttons are from my stash. How perfect are these buttons! Hearts and perfect colour!

I added some Distress Stickles Tattered Rose to the smallest heart and the butterflies for added crunch. The sentiment is from a Prima set of 28 tiny stamps called Imagenne Stamp Set Printery Cling Mounted Rubber Stamps. I picked up this stamp set when I was in Florida last year:

Be Still My HeArt

"Be Still My HeArt"

I started this canvas in January at my crafty group night. I finally finished it to what I wanted it to look like. A lot of "stuff" happening here! Loved making this!
The large heart was something I made awhile back, but never used. It's a TH Grungeboard heart, which I inked with DI Aged Mahogany and DI Stickles Barn Door. Added an acrylic button, and topped it off with a Dew Drop.

First time I used modelling paste. I tinted it with some pink acrylic paint and used a brillo pad type dauber brush I found in my drawer. Also added gauze. Love the effect of gauze! Wooden hearts are Studio Calico Wood Veneer Hearts and Arrows, and pink zipper ribbon. Both items are available at The Cutting Garden, a local paper craft store. I dropped some Alcohol Inks on the wooden hearts. Also, you can just see the white lace paper heart on the left.

Had to add my fav stamp! Lips! I stamped it on pink tissue paper with DI Aged Mahogany and then attached to canvas with Mod Podge. Added a black and white wedding photo of us under some TH filmstrip ribbon. Added some "kisses" with an x stamp.

I have an old dictionary that I picked up at a yard sale that I like to tear up for journalling; adding to cards and canvas art.

Corner stamp is from TH and is a shabby grungy corner. Love it. I added some black Alcohol Ink to the wooden arrow.

"Happy" is from a paper pad set. The 2 black lace corners are from the Cheery Lynn Lace Corners Deco B set.

The sentiment is something I thought of. A play on words; Heart, Art. All the little charms are from various places I picked up here and there!

Art Angel

"CREATIVITY is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
ART is knowing which ones to keep"

LOVE this stamp! This beauty is called "Angel of Art" by Suzi Blu. I've nicknamed these girl stamps that she designs, "Big Girl" stamps, as they are nice and big and great for paper piecing, which I did here.
I made this 5x7 canvas for my crafty night homemade gift swap. Melanie drew my name, so she has a new home!
For her hair, I stamped her on TH Kraft Glassine Paper; cut it out; wrinkled it up a bit. It really looks like hair, I thought.
The sentiment is from Tim Holtz. The little scissors are from somewhere I don't recall! They were a bright shade of plastic gold. Tried to tone them down a bit with some ink.
Top left is a strip of bubble wrap. Was trying to stamp with it, but it was blobby, so I thought, "what the heck", I'll just glue the bubble wrap right on it instead!
Her skirt is a piece of pink zipper ribbon, which I bought at my local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden.

Photo of the side. I put rub-ons on all sides:
I'm off today. Not really creating anything, just organizing my stash, and seeing what I have and haven't used in awhile, or haven't taken out of the package! Oh my!

Have a crafty creative week, and may the Art Angel be looking over your shoulder and giving you inspiration!

"You should know that you are charming"

The theme for February at The Stampsmith Challenge is photo inspiration challenge, using the colours, cream, brown and red. This is the image to inspire you:

I must admit I have a hard time following sketches, layouts and even colour sketches. Mine is more red. I usually steer clear of light colours when doing backgrounds, because I am rather messy and, well you know!
How about those shoes! Love them!

Grace Kelly. Actress. Princess. Classy. This is a gorgeous stamp, and is available to purchase over at The Stampsmith Shop. I added a few little "things" that represent her life; the crown, filmstrip ribbon, and the sentiment refers to her Prince Charming; Prince Rainier of Monaco.
