She Was Happy

"She was happy just where she was"

This was a labour of love! Everything but the kitchen sink is on here! Layers of all kinds of goodness! Paints, crackle paint, Glimmer Mists, stencils, rub-ons, tissue tape, TH film strip ribbon, paper, napkins.
I LOVE paper piecing and fussy cutting. Absolutely one of my favourite techniques. I would rather paper piece than colour with Copics or other markers.
  Here are some more pics:

This butterfly is from patterned paper (can't recall what one!). I added a small black safety pin for the body.

The birds are stamps from Dylusions, Dyan Reaveley set called, "How Does Your Garden Grow". Love this set! I stamped on coloured paper and added some Faber-Castell Gelatos. The brown area with teal swirl is a paper napkin. The paisley flourish is a rub-on.

These flowers are also part of the stamp set. I stamped them on coloured paper, added some Distress Rock Candy Crackle Paint and black brads or bling. The flower stamps have the book print design on them.

This lovely lady is called "Party Love", by Suzi Blu, Unity Stamps. I believe she has been discontinued. What a shame! I adore her! I have several other Suzi Blu "Big Girl" stamps. They are my favourite paper piecing stamps.

Kim the lovely proprietor at The Cutting Garden, does have this stamp set.

Since I bought this stamp set, I have used them quite a bit; canvas, cards. It is my fav "at the moment" go-to-stamp set for whimsey canvas or card projects. Great for paper piecing!

This is the "Party Love" stamp. Fabulous stamp for paper piecing! Hope you can find it somewhere on the web!

I made this canvas for Mike's aunt Janette, so I can visit it whenever I want! She's just around the corner!

Fashion Plate

"Style is a way of saying complicated things"

This sweet lady is from the graphic45 A Lady's Diary paper collection. In fact, the entire card is made from this set. There is no stamping on this card
whatsoever! (which was really really hard for me, as stamps are my life!).
A lot of fussy cutting, which I love! I find it very therapeutic. I made this card for my crafty group card swap. We meet once a month at a local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden. The lovely and talented Miss Lisa drew my name.

I adore this paper set! Here are some more pics:

The Inside

And we must remember to decorate the back of the card, or it's not complete!

For you locals, Kim at The Cutting Garden can order this for you.

I also used graphic45 lace trim, at the bottom of the sentiment card she's holding. Kim can also get this in for you.

The weekend is finally here! We're in a deep freeze here. Brrrr! Can you believe a week from today is February 1st! Egads! Better get crackin' on Valentine projects!

To Grow Old By His Side

Wanted to post this canvas before spring arrived! This was another one I did in a class, taught by the talented Rebecca at The Cutting Garden, a local paper craft store. I wrapped it up and put it under the tree for Mike. He really liked it!

I added rub-ons here and there, including "M" for Mike.

Same here, except for the initial "D" for me. When I got it home, I dug out my containers of paint I had in the basement. I came across some "snow". It's like icky paste and dries hard. I added it to the bottom of the canvas. The canvas measures 8x11.

Back to work for me tomorrow! Ugh! Had some flurries today; not much. Have a wonderful week!

Manly Canvas

This was SO much fun! I have gotten into canvas art, and I am loving it! Made this for Mike. I used an 8x8 chunky canvas.
Mister Butterfly guy is a Stampers Anonymous/TH stamp from the set called, Winged Things II. I paper pieced him. The pen nib is authentic and is from the forties. I picked up 3 boxes of them at a yard sale this past summer.
The cardboard was leftover from another project. It had been sprayed with several colours of Glimmer Mists.

This brown section is tissue paper from 7Gypsies

Took a hammer to a beer cap from Mike's favourite beer. In this corner, I added a couple of gears, and then covered with beeswax.

Letters I picked up at The Cutting Garden. Mike's initials of course, although it could stand for "Mister"!  That's drywall tape under the ticket! Love it!

If you have read the books, you will know where this phrase came from. It's from The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy, which you can read about HERE.
I used Alcohol Ink on the numbers to tone them down.

This is the side, showing how chunky it is. I used TH Commute Tissue Tape; as a border. Added some Distress Rocky Candy Crackle Paint on top of it.

This is the back, and staying with the number theme, used TH paper, and a ticket.

LOVE the canvas art! Good thing I kept all my acrylic paints from years ago! They are good as new!
Mike is an engineer, and he likes Monty Python, which butterfly guy reminded me of, and he's read The Hitchhikers books, so I thought this worked out perfectly! He Loved it!
I have made about 5 canvas pieces. Will be posting them. Hope you will give it a go, if you haven't tried it yet! Another obsession!

Recycle, Reuse and Happy New Year!

I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
A new month too! That means a new Stampsmith Challenge! For January, we are asking to reuse, recycle something along with at least one Stampsmith stamp.
Awesome news! If being a Guest Stampsmith Designer interests you, please add TSCGD after your picture's TITLE in the Linky Tool when you link up your project.
I collect beer bottle caps. I stamped the sentiment on matching paper and then used Glossy Accents to attached a TH Circle Fragment to the top of the sentiment. More Glossy Accents to attach inside the cap. The Fragment fits perfectly inside the cap!
The Stampsmith stamp I used is called Love Under The Stars, and I thought it was perfect for a New Year's card. The zipper under the bottle cap is Melissa Frances Ribbon & Trims, Zipper Ribbon, which I purchased at my local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden

Hope Santa brought you some crafty toys to play with. I received a couple of gift cards to some paper craft stores. What will I buy?! Mike got me a wooden lazy susan for my table tote.

Have a crafty week! I'm off this week, so looking forward to getting inky!
