Take Time To Read

A room without books,
is like a body without a soul
~ Cicero

One of my fav quotes about books. This is a stamp I bought months ago and I have been trying to find the time to play with it. He is from Stampendous and he's called "Cattus Librum Cat Stamp". Love it!

I stamped him on white cs and inked him with some DI Old Paper and Vintage Photo. Cut the background out and popped him up with foam. I "pinked" his nose and ears with a pink coloured pencil and traced his glasses with Spica Pitch Black Glitter Pen to make them pop. I stamped him again on white cs and cut out the book and popped up with foam. The photo doesn't capture that very well.

Tim Holtz paper clip, "K Knowledge" Muse Token and a Label Pull. The word "READ" is free hand. The papers are from BoBunny Weekend Market 6x6 pad and the book page paper at top and script at bottom is from another set, which escapes me at the moment!

The brown paper I coated with Distress Ink Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy to give it an old feel, like old wood. Buttons are from my stash.
Ribbon is Hug Snug Seam Binding, inked with DI Pine Needles. The library pocket and card is Maya Road Kraft Library Cards w/Envelopes. Love this BoBunny paper. It looks like a card catalog!

On the back of the library card I used a rubber stamp from 7gypsies, "The Fine Print". Funny. This looks like an optical illusion. The card doesn't look like it fits in the pocket!

This is the very last day of our 2 week vacation. Boo! Mike wants to know if I have finished whining about it yet! Absolutely not!

Have a very creative week, and get inky!

Butterflies: Self Propelled Flowers

How true this sentiment is! Got a little artsy with this one. Used my pearl watercolour paints on white watercolour paper, then coated it a couple times with Distress Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy, which gives it a "rough feel". Tore 2 sides and inked with DI vintage photo. I LOvE using paints or Distress Inks to make watercolour backgrounds!  One of my fav techniques!

The Angel Wing was cut using gold paper. I then added some Distress Crackle Paint Clear Rock Candy. I spritzed the black part of the butterfly with Sheer Shimmer Sparkle.

This card is on display at The Cutting Garden a local paper craft store. On Saturday August 25th, the owners of Cheery Lynn dies will be at the store demonstrating their gorgeous dies. Kim the lovely proprietor of The Cutting Garden asked local crafters to make cards and artwork using Cheery Lynn dies to display in the store for when they arrive.

I was in the store yesterday, and man oh man, what a display! If you're in the area you should drop by. You might want to see if there are spots left for demo day. There's a make and take! Check it out! It's FREE!

The Cheery Lynn dies I used on this card were:
1. Lace Corners Deco B
2. Small Lace Butterfly with Angel Wing
3. French Pastry Doily

All of these dies are available at The Cutting Garden.

I used a Tim Holtz pen nib for the body of the butterfly. You can just make out the word, "thoughts". I inked the doily edges with DI Vintage Photo (what else!)

The sentiment stamps (see inside of card), are both from a set of 9 stamps called "Take Wing" by Darcie's Rubber Stamps. Love this set! I stamped the sentiment onto ribbon which I found in my stash. It fit perfectly and adds to the shabby chic/vintage look!?

The inside. This is the other sentiment stamp from the set. The butterfly is also part of the stamp set. I stamped it on orangey gold paper and paper pieced it.

Well, this is our last day of vacation! Boo! Back to work on Monday! It's a little cooler here today, after the rain. Not as humid. Have a great weekend and get inky!

By The Seashore

Week 2 of vacation! Taking it easy and relaxing. Which also means getting the ink and paper out more often!

There's a new challenge at The Cutting Garden a local paper craft store operated by the lovely Kim. They will be hosting a challenge on the 5th of every month. For August, the challenge is a card sketch and/or page layout sketch. Check out their blog for all the juicy details.

This is my take on their card sketch. I was dying to try out these stamps I bought at The Cutting Garden; Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps, Seaside set. So cute! I stamped her on a Nesties circle die cut and then popped her up with foam. This was a slight departure from my vintage/grungy style. More Shabby Chic!

Papers are from My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart 6x6 pad. I used beach glass, which I bought, but, I do have some beach glass I picked up from the beaches here in Nova Scotia, but I don't have much left. I guess I'll have to go beach combing again!

The gorgeous doily die cut is from Cheery Lynn, French Pastry Doily. The owners of Cheery Lynn are dropping in to The Cutting Garden for a day of demos using their dies. Very excited! I signed up! Kim has also asked us crafters in the area to make cards using Cheery Lynn dies and to bring them in to display in her store for when they arrive.

Inside the card. Really nice sentiment stamps with this set as well as the images. I stamped the bird and silver dollar on matching papers and cut them out.
Back of card. I stamped the little girl on matching paper and then cut out her hat, like I did on the front of the card.

I Love Lucy!

LOVE Lucy! Who doesn't? This fabulous photo image stamp is available at The Stampsmith Online ShopIt's August 1st and a new challenge at The Stampsmith. This month it's Anything Goes!

I made this card for my dear friend Roxanne who is celebrating a birthday. I stamped Lucy on glossy cs with ColorBox Wicked Black, sponged some DI Old Paper on top of the entire stamped image and background, used DI Vintage Photo on the edges. I then tinted her with chalks and added Platinum Stickles to her earring.

This intricate frame is one of my new dies I bought at a local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden. It's a Memory Box die cut called Vaudeville Frame. Love it! I added some bling to it and 2 Bubble Drop dimensional stickers from Jolee's Boutique French Collection.

The sentiment stamp is 7gypsies and the gorgeous papers are Basic Grey Curio 6x6 pad set.
