And now for something completely different! I finally did it! I completed a canvas art piece! I have been wanting to try this for a long time, and I just needed a push! A whole "different ballgame" this is! Luckily I saved all my acrylic paints from abt. 10 years ago, when I was into painting those plaster ornaments, Old World Santas, villages, etc. I stored them in a couple of large plastic containers. Still good! Didn't use hardly any paint on this one, but did on the others I made.
Thanks to a local paper craft store, The Cutting Garden, I took a class taught by Rebecca, who showed us how to make this fun canvas "She Art", which Christy Thomlinson has made very popular. I love her art! Since this class I have made several canvases for gifts, which I will post after Christmas. This one is hanging on our wall. The background is Christmas paper, which looks like weathered wood. Love it!
When I got home I added this TH Tattered Poinsettia. I lathered it with DI Rock Candy Crackle Paint.
The tricky part was adding her hair, free hand!
Getting things done. Will post Christmas cards later in the week. Looks like a green Christmas here.
And now for something completely different! I know. It's not a Christmas creation! Just made this for a friend. The occasion? None, really. I thought it would be perfect for this challenge. Everything, but the kitchen sink is on here! The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and it might be appropriate for some people this time of year; trying to get ready for Christmas. The sweet? girl stamp is Super Girl by Daniel Torrente, available at Stampotique. I paper pieced her and added some blue tulle to her skirt.
After I added the beeswax, I pressed a decorative wood mounted stamp into the warm wax.
Before the wax, I added some TH Tissue Tape. The flower came from "I don't know where"; in my stash. I glued it inside a bottle cap. LOVE bottle caps! The button and mini paper clip is TH. And of course, some ribbon. Entering my Crazy card in: Stampotique Designers Challenge SDC77: Let's Get Sentimental
Well, back at the Christmas stuff! Not quite finished. Hope you are getting things done! Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate every word.
We're looking for altered items, mini-albums, decorations, ornaments, cards, tags, anything to do with the holidays! I did 3 vintage tree ornaments. Great fun making these! I might have to make more! Below are the ornaments individually; front and back:
Hope you can join us for this challenge! Would love to see what you come up with. Remember, you must use at least one Stampsmith stamp. You could win some rubber! Dies used: - Framelits Fancy Tags - Spellbinders Fancy Tags One - Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circles Small - Cheery Lynn Italian Flourish I found the paper star in my stash. It had a hole in it, the shape of a star. I traced it onto white cs, so I can use it again. The things you find in drawers, eh?!
I was in another swap. This time 4 of us Stampsmith Design Team members were paired up for a Holiday Swap. Julie received my tag in the mail yesterday, so I can post it. What I like about making tags at Christmas is you can use them as ornaments for the tree. LOVE the Time Holtz Tattered Poinsettia! The doily is Cheery Lynn Italian Flourish, and the lovely lady is called Holly Christmas and is available to purchase at The Stampsmith Shop. The ef is one of the Cuttlebug Heritage folders.
Wanted to post this card before The Stampsmith Challenge White on White is over at the end of the month. I was in a Mystery Card Swap at the Yahoo Stampsmith Group. We were paired up, and we couldn't say who's name we got. I got Maria who lives in the UK. I used one of my fav stamps and made a winter holiday card. She is too cute! Love the white on white, with a touch of vintage!
Hey there. Thanks for stopping by! I made this card for Shannon's birthday which was November 1st. Shannon is my husband's cousin, although she's more like a niece than a cousin. Her mum Janette is only 6 years older than Mike and they grew up together. Into butterflies lately. This one of course, is a Tim Holtz stamp from his Fairytale Frenzy set. I stamped it first on a piece of Sticky Back Canvas after I inked the canvas with some Distress Inks. Then I stamped it again onto some white cs and spritzed it with some blue Glimmer Mist; cut out and attached over top of the butterfly I stamped on the canvas. Added a decorative clock hand for the body and some bling. The TH Texture Fade used is from the Fancy Frame set. I cut the centre out. The blue and rust colours are DI (can't remember the names!), spritzed with water for the watercolour technique. Added 4 Tissue Tape butterflies. Also added script Tissue Tape around the edges.
As I was posting these photos, I realized I took the photos before I added the verse, and I forgot to add the date stamp!
Still a pleasant November, weather wise. Not extremely cold. It was on the mild side on the weekend. People out and about with shorts and T-shirts, for heavens sake! I could certainly get used to that!
Hope you are getting your Christmas cards done. Thank goodness I took a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack in October! I'm ahead this year!
This, was so much fun to make! A co-worker, Mark, asked me to make his girlfriend, Stephanie, a Marilyn birthday card. Stephanie, use to work at The Herald, so I know her, and I know her love for anything Marilyn! All images I got from the web and all papers used are from My Mind's Eye The Station 6x6 pad. Ribbon at the top is Hug Snug inked with DI to match papers. Added an oval bling to her necklace and the butterfly. My new obsession is the MS 3-in-one butterfly punch. Aren't they cute! Black lace at bottom from fabric store. MS Doily Lace punch at top of bag. All photos I put through Pixlr and added the grunge filmstrip. All lips are coloured with Spica red glitter marker.
Flower is made from Die-namics Upsey Daisies die cut, then added Stickles Diamonds (what else!). Black tulle underneath flower.
Back of bag.
This is the front of the tag showing 2 ATCs. I attached a shoe charm and a "diamond" to the ribbon.
The fronts of the 2 ATCs. I added lace to one and TH filmstrip ribbon and photo corners to the other. The gorgeous flourish is half of the Memory Box Riviera Corner, which I purchased at my local crafty place, The Cutting Garden.
The backs of the 2 ATCs.
The other side of the tag with 2 more ATCs.
The fronts of the 2 ATCs. Added some bling and paper lace. The second one says "Happy Birthday Stephanie". The second half of the flourish is on striped paper.
And the backs of the ATCs. The one on the right is blank for Mark to add his birthday wishes. Marks photo is underneath TH filmstrip ribbon. It took on a life of it's own! Truly enjoyed making this, and Stephanie loved it! And now a plug for Stephanie. If you're in the area visit her site: "Sky's The Limit, one of Nova Scotia's leading wedding rentals and decor businesses" Well, back to work tomorrow. We had Friday and Monday off. Nice.
It's brrrrr November 1st! New month, new challenge at The Stampsmith Challenge Blog! We're looking for Monocromatic Whites, with at least one Stampsmith stamp. This stamp is from the Thank Heaven For Little Girls #1 sheet. Got out my embossing folders, which I haven't used in quite awhile. Also some die cuts and punches and went to town! I very seldom if ever use white card stock because by the time I'm finished making the card, there's ink here, ink there, something else smudged over there! Embossing folders used were, Cuttlebug Textile, Tim Holtz Texture Fades: Fancy Frame and Floral Frame. Card base was scored on the MS Scoring Pad. Lace is from local fabric store. I had to use DI Vintage Photo here and there; couldn't resist!
The flower is Tim Holtz Tattered Flower Garland. The butterflies are Martha Stewart 3-in-one butterfly punch. They are embossed using CB Swiss Dots ef.
The flourish is Memory Box Riveriera Corner. I used half of it on the front and the other half inside.
Inside showing top and bottom
This is the bottom inside. Used the TH Fancy Frame Texture Fade. Will stamp a sentiment in the middle.
The inside top with the other half of the Memory Box corner flourish.
