Star TriFold Birthday Card

I talked to my cousin Bev yesterday and she received this card, so it's safe to post! I made it for her birthday, which was December 29th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEV!
This past year, a friend and very talented paper craft person, Valerie, gave a class at Photo Memories, a scrapbooking store here in Halifax on how to make this gorgeous Star Tri-Fold card.
If you are in the Halifax area, there might be kits available at The Cutting Garden and there is a good video on YouTube HERE

Here are some more photos:
The area beside the fairy, is where I wrote the greeting.

I made a pocket and inserted 3 old photos of Bev and I growing up. I matted each photo and added photo corners. This photo is a bit blurry, but it's my favourite photo of Bev & I. I'm the one with hardly any hair!

These 2 photos are the envelope; front and back:

Happy Holidays!

  FRONT
INSIDE

I have one last Christmas tag to post. This one I made for my hairdresser, Angela, who I have been going to for 20 years. I posted the card I made for Mike's hairdresser also, which you can see HERE. It has the same sentiment, but a different card entirely.
The image on the front is from Graphics Fairy. I tinted her with chalks, added some bling for a necklace and in her hair. The image on the inside is from Magic Moonlight Studios. She was already tinted, but I made her cheeks a little rosier!
I could not resist the big hair lady and I have been waiting to use this image on a card for Angie. The woman on the front is holding a curling iron, which worked out perfectly.
I call these tags I make a Tag/Card. I attach the tag to cs and it opens at the bottom.

If you look real close, you can see me taking the picture of the tag through my light box! Baubles are from The Dollar Store, brown jingle bell from Michaels.
This long shot shows the ribbon and the tulle.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday with family and friends! Are we all stuffed with turkey?
Wishes

Dozens Of Ukrainian Cousins!

Well, not that many! I'm part Ukrainian on my mom's side. This year, I sent all my first cousins and family members basically the same Christmas tag; different colours, but the same layout and stamps.
I used the largest doll from the Hero Arts Russian Dolls acrylic stamp set.  The Matryoshka or nesting dolls are very popular in both Russian and Ukrainian culture.
When Stampin' Up! released their "Hello Doily" stamp I had to get it! The doily is the pineapple pattern. My mother crocheted doilies in her sleep! We had a doily under everything! This was one of her favourite patterns.

So here is a sampling of some of the tags I made.

I "paper pieced" the nesting dolls; stamped on pattern paper; then on white cs. I used chalks on her face and red and green Copics on her scarf. I then cut her head and scarf out and glued her to the pattern paper body.

Here is a back view, showing the pocket with the ticket, which is blank on one side to write a greeting:

I had to keep the bling down to a minimum as I had to mail them all. A lot of fun to make and remembering mum as I made them. Hope you all are "gettin' her done"!
Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!

Parade Of Christmas Tags

This year I decided to make mostly tags for family and friends. I wanted to post them all before Christmas, but I seem to be running out of time! Most of my tags & cards had to be mailed, so I tried (I really really tried!), to go easy on the bling! Not an easy thing to do, mind you!
Below are the tags that I had not previously posted. Not posting the backs. I attached a pocket with a "greeting" ticket. Here's a sample of the back of a tag on a previous post.
I'll stop talking, and without further adieu, here they are in no particular order:

This Peace tag is entered in Try It On Tuesdays: Anything Goes

This funky snowman is entered in The Octopode Factory Challenge: TOFF#25 Winter

A Spikee & Smile Christmas!

My husband wanted a card for his hairdresser. He's been going to her for about 10 years. So this is what I made. Above is the front of the card.

This is the inside:
This is inside also (back of the front). Holds a gift card or money:
Great fun making this card and was well received! Before I stamped the images, I sprayed the card inside and out with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz. Used various colours of Spica Glitter Pens on Spikee and Smile. Added Icicle Stickles on the snowflakes.

This is going to be entered in the following challenges:
1. SDC44: Shimmer, Glimmer, Glitter & Glitz
2. Our Creative Corner: Holiday Colour Combo

This is crunch time! One week to go! Are you ready? Are you done? Later this week I think I'm going to post a "Parade of Christmas Tags and Cards". Have a great week everyone! Get inky!

Shabby Chic Christmas!

I know. I love these stamps and I had to use them again!
Made this for my friend and co-worker, Louise. Since tomorrow is the last day we see each other until the New Year, I gave it to her today. I also couldn't wait to post it!
It started out as a tag I cut out of a file folder, using Tim's Tag & Bookplate die cut set. Then, using his music stamp, stamped all over tag. Crumpled some beige tissue paper and secured to tag using Mod Podge; leaving it clumpy here and there. Spread some Rock Candy Crackle on top; using heat tool; then ripped off excess tissue, leaving some ragged edges.
Inked edges with DI Vintage Photo and Iced Spruce (love this new colour!)
Before I put a back on it, I ran a tape runner along edges on the back and stuck the ribbon to it; bunching it here and there. Ribbon from Dollar Store. Then I cut out another tag using DP and stuck to back. Photos of back are below.
The angel and sentiment are part of Tim's Christmas set, Joyful Song. Chalked her face, arms and hair. For her dress, I used DI Iced Spruce and a water brush. Glued her to Grungepaper and cut out again; popped with foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on text DP from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas 6x6 paper pad. Sprayed with Sheer Shimmer Spritz Sparkle; inked edges with DI Iced Spruce; glued onto Grungepaper; cut out again; popped up with foam squares.
Mini ornaments from Dollar Store. Tulle was ripped and attached. Great fun putting this together! Lots of layers!
Closeups and the back of the tag:

I used Stickles Platinum on her wings and some on tag dropping onto the large "A" in the sentiment.
The ticket is blank on the other side, where you can jot down a greeting. Ticket was made from Tim's Mini Tickets die set. DP is from my stash of unknown origin!

This tag is going in a couple of challenges:
1. Our Creative Corner: All Ruffled Up Theme
2. Take A Word Challenge: Joy

Have a great week! Get inky!

Season's Greetings!

Can't believe it's almost Christmas! Where did the time go! Very behind this year!
This lovely lady is from the Flappers #3 sheet at The Stampsmith Store. The December challenge, Shimmer, Sparkle & Shine is good 'til January 8th, so you have plenty of time to jump in.
The paper is from an old Christmas set by K&Company. I cut out the beautiful holly from one of the sheets and loaded it up with glitter. I used various chalks to tint her.
Love this stamp as it reminds me of my mum. She had waves just like this when she was a young girl.

Here is a couple of closeups:

Did You Know...
Did you know over at The Stampsmith Shop, Estelle has a page on Photostamping Tips?
Well back at it! More cards and tags to make and get them in the post, hopefully before Christmas!
Have a great week! Get Inky!

Christmas Is Coming!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! This little angel (well, she's a sweet little girl and I added wings to her!), is from the Isn't She Lovely? sheet at The Stampsmith Online Store. The papers I used are Christmas, just not traditional colours. They're from a set called "Deck The Halls" from a company called, "3 Bugs In A Rug".  I used chalks to tint her.
The rosette is TH Paper Rosette die cut and then glittered with Stickles Icicles. Ribbon from Michael's, sentiment from computer. Her wings were stamped on white cs, then added DI Dusty Concord and Stickles Icicles. Added photo corners and bling.

A couple of closeups (click on all photos for larger images):

So think outside the box. Christmas cards don't have to be green and red. Try something different. Even stamps can be made into something Christmasy (is this a word?)

A new challenge is underway over at The Stampsmith Challenge Blog. You have until January 8th. It has been extended a few days. If you use at least one Stampsmith rubber stamp, you are eligible for the random draw for a sheet of rubber! You can't win if you don't play!

Shimmer, Sparkle & Shine with Stampsmith!

It's the first of the month, and you know what that means! It's another fabulous challenge at The Stampsmith! For the month of December, Valerie, our awesome host, has asked us to design something that shimmers, sparkles & shines and to use at least one Stampsmith stamp to be eligible to win the random prize draw at the end of the month!
Really into tags. Can't stop making them! This lovely lady is from the Flappers #3  sheet at The Stampsmith Online store. I LOVE to use chalk to tint photo stamps! Have I told you that before?!
The db is from Basic Grey, Jovial 6x6 pad set. I think it came out last year. The green ribbon is from The Dollar Store and the lace is from Michaels. Poinsettia and holly are K&Company. Used DI Fired Brick at the top of the tag.
Before I attached her, I sprayed the entire tag with Glimmer Mist, Old Lace. Added bling.

Closeup: I left the flash on, so the glitter would show up better. The poinsettia is from K&Company: Glad Tidings: Poinsettia & Holly Layered Accent stickers. Popped up with foam square. Click on photos for larger images

Here are some photos of the back of the tag. I covered tag with some more BG Jovial paper, then attached a paper sack, which I cut down a bit. You can buy them at Michaels in the gift wrap and bags section. The ticket is TH Journaling Tickets. Covered one side with matching BG paper. Attached an eyelet, added ribbon. On the other side of the ticket, is where you would jot down a personal message. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment stamp is Inkadinkadoo.
I was still experimenting with the tickets when I made this. I now make the ticket with TH Mini Ticket die cut set.

   Back of the tag:

Hope everyone is having a creative week, and getting those cards and decorations made! I am behind and starting to stress a little!
Make sure you head over to The Stampsmith Challenge and see the entries and have a look at the DT members creative samples. Heck, why don't you enter something yourself?! We would love to have you play along!
A BIG thank you to all who played along in last months Stampsmith Challenge and our 1st Anniversary Blog Hop! Great fun! Congratulations to the winners! Have fun with your rubber!

Get inky!
