Are We There Yet?

Click on photo for larger image
I have been told by a good friend that I said this every hour on the hour, on a road trip to New Brunswick to visit her grandmother and dozens of cousins.

We were about 21 or 22 at the time. My first road trip without my parents. I sat in the back, Roxanne was driving, and another friend, Janet was sitting in the front. I guess I was so excited to go on a trip without my parents and it was my first time to the East Coast of Canada, that I could hardly wait to get there! About 16 hours driving, straight through; taking turns driving; stopping only for gas and washroom, Roxanne and Janet could finally say "Yes Debbie", you are here!

Tag is entered in these challenges:
1. Grungy Monday 21: Transparent Illusions
2. Simon Says Stamp and Show: Travel
3. Dragons Dream TIO#93 - Travel
4. The Stamp Man CH#30 - Travel

For the Grungy Monday challenge on Linda's blog, Studio L3, we are asked to do a TH technique, using fragments, packing tape, alcohol inks embossing powders. Awesome technique! The lic. plate "paper" at the bottom of the tag was done with the packing tape technique, only I didn't put a fragment over top of it. You must go have a look on Tim's blog for all the details.

The sentiment stamp is part of a set called "Simple Thoughts - Travel" from Fiskar's Cloud 9 Clear Stamps. I bought it at Winners. This sentiment caught my eye and I knew I had to have it! There are 15 stamps in the set. The road map background paper was from a travel paper pack that I found in my stash. Unknown origins!

Closeups. Click on photos for larger images:

The checkerboard stamp is TH from the Ultimate Grunge Set. Ball & Chain, gear and brad are also TH Idea-ology stuff. Stamped the background with DI Scattered Straw, Brushed Corduroy, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo around edge. A shot of Glimmer Mist Coffee Shop to finish it off. The little paper wheel is from my drawer; unknown origin!

The key was done using Grungeboard Elements and the "Rusted Grunge" technique. Page 45 in Tim's book, "A Compendium of Curiosities". Check out his blog for his book or he may have a demo of this technique. The chap with the cap is from Tim's Lost and Found paper stack. Charm Fragment and Game Spinner are also TH. Car stamp is from TH Mini Muse set and was stamped on Grungepaper and inked with Vintage Photo.

Oh look! Can you see? There goes Roxanne, Janet and Debbie on their road trip! "Are We There Yet?!"

Couldn't find a good Tom Cochrane original version of his song, but I found this movie video for one of the Cars movies, of Rascal Flatts singing, "Life Is A Highway". Sing along if you want to! You know you want to! Have a great road trip!

Thanks for stopping by!
Look around before you go and leave a word or two!
Have a very inky and creative week!

Configurations Box - Part 1

I finally started my Configurations Box. I bought it about 3 months ago. It sat in the corner giving me the evil eye anytime I looked it's way! I guess I was a little apprehensive. Big project.

The following photos are various shots of the box covered in paper and tissue tape. Wanted to show you what it looked like before I start to fill all the individual boxes. I covered the paper and tissue tape with the Rock Candy Crackle Paint; about 3 coats. A little dab here and there of DI Vintage Photo on tissue tape. I had Tim's tutorial on YouTube (see end of post), playing as I was cutting and pasting, to get a basic idea of how to cover it.

Papers used:
- Tim Holtz: Lost and Found, Crowded Attic and Vintage Shabby
- Graphic45 Steampunk Debutante: Mechanical Mind
- Pink Paislee Butterfly Collection
- October Afternoon Thrift Shop: Complete Set
- Basic Grey Stella Ruby

Other stuff:
- Tim Holtz Tissue Tape: Sketchbook
- Distress Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint
- Tim Holtz Corners and Curio Knob
- Distress Ink Vintage Photo

With lid off. Not using the acrylic piece that fits in cover because I will likely have things hanging.

Summer Colours, Flower & Bling, Anything Goes!

Click on photo for larger image
This tag took on a life of it's own! It has been Glimmer Misted to death! It became so thick I had to double mat with black cardstock!

I made this flower a few weeks back when I discovered our local craft store Carsand-Mosher started carrying Wendy Vecchi products. Together with Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die cut and Wendy's Clearly For Art Modeling Film, I made this awesome flower! Fabulous material. It comes in transparent (which I used), black and white. Package contains three 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. When you heat it, it becomes very soft and pliable so you can shape it. If you don't like what you created, just heat it again!

If you search on YouTube under "Wendy Vecchi Clearly For Arts" you will find a tutorial video on her demonstrating this technique and her product. It was filmed by Simons Says Stamp and Show.

Supplies and stuff....
- Embossed tag with TH Texture Fade Checkerboard
- Sprayed tag with Glimmer Mists with Sun Sisters, Caribbean Blue, Cadillac Pink, Coffee Shop and Old Lace; abt. 3 or 4 times ; dried with heat tool
- In the right bottom corner where it's blue I sprayed some GooseBumps Clear Texture Spray; dried with heat tool until it bubbled.
- Stamp on side is a flourish from TH Boundless Flight set; highlighted with some glitter pens.
- Sentiment stamp is Stampin' Up! Peace Within set. Stamped on white cs; sprayed with Glimmer Mists; edged with DI Vintage Photo; attached with glue and foam square
- Bling from Michael's
- Circle around large bling that's covering hole, is TH Reinforcers.
- Flower is stamped with Adirondack Alcohol Inks; various colours.
