Poe, The Black Cat, Gingersnap!

The Black Cat
I am pleased and honoured to be a Visiting Artist for the month of October over at Gingersnap Creations! Thank you Ali for the invite. Very excited!

The other Visiting Artist is Melissa Ustik. Melissa is a an amazing artist and I love her creativity. The October Muse is Mary Green. Mary is so awesome! She creates fabulous Gluebooks, something I haven't really tried yet, but want to give it a go. All the DT and special guests are fabulous! Please make sure you have a look at their fantastic artwork. What creative minds! I'm awed! (visual here: mouth hanging open)

For the month of October the theme is Stuck on Poe. The first challenge of the month is the Chestnut Challenge: Horror Stories.  I have chosen Poe's short story "The Black Cat"

Tag Supply list:
- Tim Holtz Texture Fade, Brick. I used the technique mentioned in his book, "A Compendium of Curiosities"; page 40, Double Distress. DI Fired Brick, Black Soot, Pumice
- Hinge is from TH Grungeboard Plain Elements; DI ink Black Soot; then smooched with finger some Distress Stickles Pewter.
- Little black mice are Martha Stewart Halloween mice edge punch
- Blood splatter stamp is Martha Stewart Vampire set
- Quote is from web
- Tissue Tape script is from Hobglobin set
- Axe ad Poe portrait from Google images; used an oval Fragment Charm and Glossy Accents for Poe's portrait
- Cat image is from Caisidyrose on Flickr
- Chain clip is TH

Some closeups. Click on photo for larger images:
Had to disfigure the poor thing to go along with the story! Go here and read the story, if you are not familiar with it.
I stamped a spider on the left side. See the blood on the axe! Love those blood splatter stamps!
Boy, talk about crooked! Well you know what I say. If it's not crooked, it's not handmade!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a look around and leave a word or two before you go. It's going to be a fabulous month! So head on over to the Gingersnap Creations Challenge and see the other awesome artwork! Get inky and join in! It's going to be a very bumpy ride!

Ooh... I like him :) Looks a bit like one of my old one-eyed cats :)

I do read a bit of Poe... but find his life story so much more interesting... I've jujst been reading about how the murder story he wrote of Marie Roget was based on a true story, a real person Poe knew (Maria Rogers)... and her murder has never been solved...
*ooooohhhhooooohhh* creepy moaning music *lol*
