You ROCK Motivational Card

Two ladies organized a crafty project to be given to  a dear friend of all us.

It was a motivational, inspirational flip card book to hang in a flip frame. The frame used, I believe is from IKEA and is the same idea as the Tim Holtz Flip Frame. The one we used is white.

Fifteen crafty ladies made one card each, measuring 3x5. The theme was pretty much anything goes.

Melanie, the recipient of this flip book is entering the Bluenose Marathon this month, and 15 cards represents 15km. she will run.

Mel has been an inspiration to all of us, our Super Woman! She has MS but that does not stop her. She has been training for this marathon for months! She makes us all proud and we are all here to support her! Go Mel!

  She truly does ROCK!

This is the card I made for her. She loves pink so I used that as a base colour.

This is the back of the card:
We wish her a fabulous run in the upcoming marathon! Go Mel!

Thanks to Christine and Dawne for organizing this! You ladies ROCK too!

Altered Jumbo Jigsaw Puzzle Piece

This was so much fun! I found a bag of jumbo size jigsaw puzzle pieces at my local thrift shop. Just had to alter one! Haha!

Used Prima patterned paper to cover image on puzzle piece. Then I added different colours of Gelatos here and there. Applied some Faber-Castell Whipped Spackle over a polk dot stencil. Filed some of the dots down, so they just left an impression.

Feathers at the top and stars and sequins added in corners.  "I am fabulous" is from TH Chit Chat Snarky collection. Baubles and small flower from my stash.

Nuvo Silver Moondust Glitter Drops all around the edge of the piece.

Little bit of pink lace tacked on from the back. I used pinks and purple Distress Oxides on the back which was white. Forgot to take a photo of it!

Layered some tulle in white and pale blue under the girl, which is a TH Paper Doll. Very lightly, I tinted her with Distress Oxides, Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick. Glued a vellum butterfly to the back of her.

Close Ups:

Here are photos of what the jigsaw pieces looked like before I started and after I added the paper and some of the Gelatos:

Going to try regular size pieces next. I also think the jumbo size would be great for Christmas ornaments.

Give it a go! It was so much fun! Endless possibilities!

Altered Playing Cards - Two Sizes

I have been busy crafting lately, but most of the cards I have made I can't post yet until I give them to the recipient. Lots of milestone birthdays this year, plus 2 retirements, including Mike!

I started the cute little girls card at a crop I was at a couple of weeks ago. The rest I have been picking away at every night. Love making these altered playing cards!

I received the larger size deck of cards from a crafty friend. Thanks Kim! The 2 at the bottom in the photo above. A bit bigger than the regular size playing card.

These cuties are from Tim's Paper Dolls. The paper,  bottom sentiment chip and heart with bird chip are Prima. The sentiment at top is from Tim's Chit Chat stickers set.

God Save the Queen! Love this stamp from VivaLasVegas Stamps! Boy they sure have some unique stamps! Paper is again from Prima. Sentiment is from Tim's Chit Chat sticker set. I piled quite a bit of Stickles on her crown, necklace an earring. You can't really tell too much by the photo.

Love anything library or book related! This stamp set is from 2 different sets from Unity Stamp Co.

Washi at the bottom is from my stash, and the partial flower stencil was applied with Faber Castell Whipped Spackle. You can see a couple of stencil flowers of Tim's on the pink part of the card.

I used Distress Oxides and water on paper and then glued it to the playing card. I paper pieced her and the books from paper in my stash. Used coloured pencils on her hair. Stamped the sentiment on paper, cut in half and then popped up with foam squares.

Love this stamp set! The sentiment at the bottom and the library card/pocket are from Unity Stamp Co.
Paper is from 7Gypsies. The catalogue drawer at the top is also from a sheet of paper from 7Gypsies.

Friday at last! Still does not feel like spring here. At. All. Hope it's warm wherever you are!

Just My Type

  Happy Valentine's Day!

As some of you may know, I found a vintage old typewriter from the '50s at my local thrift shop. I had this Close To My Heart stamp set, called "Typed Note", so..... an idea for a Valentine's card for Mike just fell into place!

The sentiment, "Just My Type" are typewriter keys I cut out from a 12x12 BoBunny sheet from a collection called "Star-Crossed". Added some TH Designer Tape and paper is from my TH stash. Used my favourite lip stamp!

Inside. I typed out the sentiment using the typewriter I bought, and added a coffee stain stamp. The typewriter keyboard piece of paper is from a TH paper collection.

  The back.

My new favourite toy! Bought at my local thrift shop for $6.99!

Mike's card and chocolate he gave me. Love Newfoundland Chocolate Company! Best salted caramel ever! Love their quirky sayings on their packaging! You know I'm going to save those for my next junk journal!

Hope you have a fabulous Valentine's Day!

Altered Playing Cards - Valentines - Set 2

Love all the blueprint stamps from Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz! You either hate them or love them! This is the mini Valentine set.

I stamped the images on the background paper, then I stamped them again on fairly heavy card stock. Used my Distress Markers to colour; cut them out, and then attached them with foam adhesive on top of stamped image on the background paper.

Added some doodling around the edges, tissue tape at the top, drywall tape under the Tim Holt Small Talk stickers, and heart stickers at the bottom. Stickles Pink Taffeta applied overtop of images for sparkle and crunch.

Here they are individually:

**** I have been asked what adhesive do I use to adhere the paper to the playing cards, as the cards are plastic coated.

 I use my trusty ATG:
I run strips down the sides, except a corner where I will tear off the paper to show the number. Place the card with the adhesive to the wrong side of the paper, and then trim the card. Tear the corner to expose the number. I take a corner rounder punch to trim the 3 corners of the card, or sometimes I use my small scissors to trip around the rounded corners.
